Introduction
CRAIG MCKINNON
Craig is a Partner and Chartered Accountant at the Balance Group, having joined in 2013. With a focus on providing specialized tax advice, he enjoys working closely with clients to address various taxation matters. Craig is based at the Taranaki office and leads a team, offering his expertise in farm accounting and taxation planning, business structuring and advice for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as business and succession planning. His passion lies in supporting the growth of new businesses and assisting the next generation in creating value. Outside of work, Craig is actively involved in exercising and contributing to various charitable organizations, committees, and treasury roles.
Education
Craig pursued his education at Victoria University in Wellington, where he successfully completed his Bachelor of Commerce and Administration degree. During his studies, he chose to specialize in Accounting and Commercial Law, obtaining a double major.
Experience
Following his graduation, Craig began his career as an investigator for Inland Revenue. This role provided him with a broad tax knowledge base across different industries. After gaining valuable experience in government service, he transitioned to the private sector, joining the Balance Group. Since then, he has been instrumental in offering specialized tax advice and assisting clients with their taxation needs.
Other
Outside of his professional commitments, Craig maintains an active lifestyle to counterbalance the effects of a desk job. He frequently engages in high-intensity workouts and bike rides. Additionally, he is actively involved in treasury roles for various charities, organizations, and committees, demonstrating his dedication to giving back to the community.
